Now that the dust and cobwebs have been removed from this website, it’s time to get the ball rolling. Going forward I’ve decided to emphasize photography a little more than writing. Over the last year I’ve accumulated a large portfolio of images I would like to share. I’ll single out favorite shots, provide a little background about the subject, how they were made, and tell a little story on occasion.
I recently took the photo above while gathering material for an interview with Ben Spencer, head brewer at Magnolia Pub and Brewery in San Francisco. It was late afternoon and during this time of year the sun burns through the front windows at a low angle and blankets patrons at the bar. If you turn in the wrong direction it’s blinding, but it makes for some wonderful photographs. The rays of light can turn pint glasses into lanterns.
